Muse, Pulp, Magic Numbers and José González help bring Eden closer to the Edge
Muse, Pulp, Magic Numbers and José González are among the top artists who are giving their backing to the Eden Project’s Edge campaign.
Exclusive video tracks from the Eden Sessions by these top names and a string of others who have played the acclaimed gigs are available to people who register for a reminder to vote by phone.
Eden plans to build a visionary new centre meeting the challenges of climate change and the project is one of four competing for the Big Lottery Fund’s: The People’s £50 Million campaign.
From today (November 28), live performances from many top acts who have played the Eden stage in the illustrious six-year history of the Sessions will be viewable through www.edenproject.com.
Peter Hampel, Eden’s Creative Director, said: “This is really exciting news for all of us who love the Sessions. Everybody knows Eden brings out the best in bands – the best place to play in the opinion of many of the acts who have performed here.
“These are tracks filmed and recorded to the highest quality from some of the world’s top acts exclusively available on the Edge web site. The combination of top acts, brilliant performances and the unique Eden setting means fans are in for a real treat.
“It is great that these artists have got behind the Edge and understand what it will mean not just for Eden – but for the entire planet.”
Eden’s bid for the Edge – a visionary new building meeting the challenges of climate change - is up against three other UK projects in the £50 million contest. Internet voting is open now at www.edenproject.com/vote.
A series of ITV programmes about the projects will start next Monday (December 3) with a film about the Edge, broadcast from 11 pm on ITV1. Phone voting is due to take place from December 7 to 10.
The Sessions acts join a cavalcade of Edge supporters including the UN, Oxfam and celebrities such as Ray Mears, Alan Titchmarsh and Philippa Forrester.
Muse, the acclaimed three-piece who have won best live band at the NME, Brit and Kerrang! Awards, have donated their hit Hysteria from their incendiary Sessions performance in 2006.
Pulp, one of Britain’s most successful and enduring bands, have made the anthemic Common People from their legendary 2002 show available to Edge supporters. Magic Numbers have donated 2006 hit Take a Chance.
Further videos from the Eden Sessions archives will be added in the run up to the vote. The Eden Sessions will return in 2008 with acts to be announced in the New Year.
