Edge supporter Alan Titchmarsh’s Nature of Britain to feature the Eden Project tonight
Eden Project friend and supporter Alan Titchmarsh will tonight present the final episode of his acclaimed BBC television series Nature of Britain, which includes a piece about robins that live in the project’s Mediterranean Biome.
Alan has visited Eden a number of times and has lent his backing to the project’s next great phase, the Edge.
The Edge is one of four projects competing in the Big Lottery Fund’s: the People’s £50 Million Contest. It will be a visionary new building meeting the challenges of climate change. Its scale and ambition will make it an international icon of sustainability.
The winning project will be decided by a public vote. Internet voting is now open at www.edenproject.com/vote and phone voting is due to take place between December 7 and 10.
Alan said: "I'm a great fan of the Eden Project and I’m fully behind the Edge. I wish Eden the best of luck in the Big Lottery Fund’s: the People’s £50 Million Contest.
“Not only will the Edge expand the project's scope for world-class horticulture but it will be a vitally important place for communities to come together and work towards resolving the great issues of the 21st century, such as water supply, energy and climate change.
“It will also be one of the world's most sustainable and architecturally-spectacular buildings. And it will be another reason to visit one of the world’s great gardens."
Alan is part of a wide-ranging list of Edge supporters which also includes the UN, Oxfam and Christian Aid as well as England rugby captain Phil Vickery, Alan’s Ground Force colleague Charlie Dimmock, survival expert Ray Mears and television presenter Philippa Forrester.
